Pastor Douglas L. Whittington is the Pastor of Refuge Ministries- San Antonio, Texas.He was born in Cuero, Texas, raised in Los Angeles, California, and later moved with his family to San Antonio, Texas after his father's death.
 
At an early age, Elder Whittington heard the call of God while a member at Memorial Baptist Church. He preached his first message on his 18th birthday. He was educated in the San Antonio school system and continued his Biblical education at the Guadalupe Seminary.
 
The Lord led him to Refuge Church in 1984. There he was re-baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and filled with the Holy Spirit. Also he met and married First Lady Whittington and was blessed with two lovely daughters, (Tiffany and Tierra).
 
Elder Whittington worked his way through the ranks of the Church of Our Lord organization and was ordained Elder in 1995. He served as local President of the Armor Bearer's Young Peoples Union and State Youth Director of the West Texas Diocese. he was appointed Pastor of Refuge Church in the year 2000 after Bishop Lonnie Green, Sr.'s tragic death.
 
Elder Whittington is an active member of Aaron's Army of Bishop T.D. Jakes Ministries and Community of Churches for Social Action (CCSA), a distinguished coalition of pastors reaching out to the city of San Antonio for social and economic development.
 
Elder Whittington possesses an inspiring spirit of enthusiasm and love manifested through his ministry and dedication as a servant of God.
